CD Needs Input

December 19th, 2005 by Scott

Jesus sent out the seventy and, in a similar fashion, we’re almost ready to send out seventy preview copies of the CD Edition of the International Prayer Center of Jerusalem :)

If you’d like to have a copy, e-mail me at scott (at) ipcj (dot) org. So as to reduce spam, replace the (at) with an @ and the (dot) with a .

Once you get your copy, beat it up and send the suggestions for improvement to the link on the CD. I need you to be ruthless when it comes to making it better. I’m happy with the way it is, but I’m not satisfied.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Print to CD

December 12th, 2005 by Scott

The IPCJ bought an Epson Stylus Photo R200 so we could distribute “good looking” CDs.

I’m planning on setting it up tomorrow and testing it out; however, if you’d like to ‘come bearing gifts,’ this page is a good place to start for multi-pack ink cartridges and ink jet printable CD-Rs :-)

Unique Christmas Gift

December 8th, 2005 by Linda Vogel

“If you knew the gift of God…” John 4:10
Jesus gave the best Christmas gift of all–2,000 years ago; He gave the gift of Himself to all who will trust Him as Savior. His gift keeps on giving…

    Unique Christmas idea:

Are you looking for a unique gift idea, which also has an eternal value? It’s a gift that goes twice as far as any ordinary Christmas gift. Here’s a hint: You will not find it in any store; it can be combined as a Christmas gift plus as an offering unto the Lord; and this gift is kingdom-sized. The best part is that it will further the gospel! Interested?

As you know, we have been involved in assisting in the work to establish a prayer garden through the ministry of the International Prayer Center of Jerusalem, (IPCJ). The IPCJ is an epicenter of prayer, established with resources to reach the nations for Christ.

Why not surprise someone by giving a gift to the IPCJ in “his or her honor”? Or give a gift “in memory” of that special loved one. We have carefully designed a gift certificate with a place of honor for the person(s) of your choice. What a great Christmas gift choice for someone who loves the Lord! And what a great idea to give to someone who has almost everything!

    Here’s how it works

When you give a financial gift to the International Prayer Center of Jerusalem, you will receive:

A Certificate of Appreciation from the International Prayer Center of Jerusalem: ~ The certificate will have a place for the name of the person you are honoring. ~

Email ipcj and put your order in today…

The Economy

December 5th, 2005 by Scott

Doug, over at Brigada, recently wrote:

I continue to be in awe of those who understand big business. I have a lawyer friend who understands Washington, history, Wall Street… you know the type. Me? I’m mystified by it all. The preaching minister at our church told me that cumulative spending on world evangelism for 2004 was $1.7 billion. He also said sales figures for Sony Playstations were exactly the same: $1.7 billion. We’ve all heard illustrations like that. I’m sure you have a favorite one about dog food or pet supplies. The point is — how does all this economy of scale work? And does it at all relate to World Evangelism? On the one hand, I’m thinking the Lord can do whatever He wants to do, with or without the USA fiscal budget, Sony, or the country of San Marino. He owns the cattle on a thousand hills… All he has to do is sell a few head and your next mission project is totally covered. On the other hand, it *is* sobering how much we spend on small stuff. And it’s telling how much our *supporters* have spent on small stuff… stuff that really won’t matter.
So here’s the thought for the day: Today, let’s all contemplate for a minute about the fact that, when we appeal for someone to give toward our upcoming mission project, we know deep down inside we’re asking them to give toward something that will *matter*… something that will *last*. If we’re convinced of that, then why are we so sheepish asking for money. Next time we have doubts about asking for funds, let’s all remember that if they don’t give toward the particular mission work in which we’re engaging, they’ll probably just use it to buy video games anyway. :-) And that, my friends, … that tiny change in our way of thinking… that can make all the difference.

Seems to fit…

Father, may we?

November 23rd, 2005 by Linda Vogel

Remember the children’s game…Mother, may I? A child asks the leader’s permission if he may take one step forward. The leader decides what kind of a step to take…from a baby step to a giant step…to a “No, you may not!”

As we stand before the Lord asking permission to take a step forward…what is His voice saying? Take a baby step, giant step, or no, you may not!

The International Prayer Center of Jerusalem is a ministry that surely is on the Lord’s heart. How happy He must be to see us taking those steps of faith…no matter what size they turn out to be.

Father, may we? May we take a giant step forward and see you send the funds to take the next steps? We thank you for the steps of faith you are teaching us to walk in.

Coverage?

November 21st, 2005 by Scott

Tomorrow I’m supposed to meet with two guys from Southwestern News, the alumni news magazine of my seminary alma mater. FWIW, I started out thinking I could accomplish both the Master of Divinity and Master of Arts in Religious Education degrees but chose to focus on the latter. Back in “those days” (89-92) the requirements were ‘different.’

At any rate, I hope the time with Brent and Matt will lead to future coverage for the Prayer Center and to give people the chance to join God at work here!

Visiting Intercessor

November 14th, 2005 by Scott

The IPCJ has a visiting intercessor for the next week or so, if she can handle the chill of the apartment. That “apartment,” by the way, is a temporary fixture as that space will one day become a Prayer Closet where people can pray quietly. In other news… the weeds (and clover!) are sprouting again, thanks to the beginning rains. I’ve sprayed the last bit of roundup in an attempt to hold off the weeds, but the rains will continue. I think there’s a parallel thought in there somewhere. Hmm…

Visitors

November 7th, 2005 by Scott

We had a few more visitors today and, wow, was it good to share the vision again! I hope they caught the vision and will cast it to others who will continue the vision.

The rains have begun and will soon refill the cisterns for next summer’s watering needs. God is faithful to provide.

Fencing

October 31st, 2005 by Scott

No, not the sport… the stuff that goes across walls. Right now we have some old fencing along a wall that is not keeping people out of the property; in fact, we’ve found empty syringes and the like in corners of the Garden. We’re looking at estimates to see what it cost to secure the area; however, it may be possible that … oh, I’d better quit :*-)
